You're invited to join alumni, members and guests as we celebrate the 36th anniversary of our
founding at ULM. The big weekend is April 25-26, 2008. From crawfish, to golf, to a dinner
and dance at the Monroe Civic Center, we'll be celebrating in style in April. For more information
contact Tommy Walpole.
Dr. Joe Pujol, Ed.D., FACSM (Eta Omicron '81);
I did not ever plan to go to NLU, in fact I hardly even knew it existed until one of my older
brothers enrolled there. I remember when he came back home the first time wearing his ΠΚΑ
shirt. After taking some ribbing from one of my other brothers he spoke about the fraternity
and the quality of people in the group and, of course, the fun they had. Having been in high
school when Animal House came out I had a picture in my mind about fraternities and this began
to sound like a lot of fun.
During my senior year of high school I made a
trip to Monroe to learn more about the school. In the meantime I was able to meet the guys in
the fraternity. They were as advertised, a close knit group of men who were fun to be around
and also knew how to enjoy themselves. (more)
YOUR SON &
THE PI KAPPA ALPHA INTERNATIONAL FRATERNITY
We are excited that you and your son are contemplating Pi Kappa Alpha at ULM as a means to enhance
his education. If your son decides to join our fraternity, we are confident that the experience
will be valuable to his growth and development.
IMPACT OF FRATERNITIES ON THE COMMUNITY1
Fraternities contribute over $7,000,000 and 850,000 hours to charities and community service each year.
Fraternity alumni are more satisfied with their social development than non-members.
As adults, Fraternity alumni belong to more civic organizations, and are more likely to donate time and money to those groups.
At ULM...
The Pikes donated over 5500 hours to local organizations in 2006.

for Advanced Social Research - University of Missouri-Columbia
Membership in Pi Kappa Alpha is a lifelong experience, as expressed: Once a Pike, Always a Pike.
Our alumni ranks are made up of over 200,000 men of outstanding character who uphold the virtues
of Pi Kappa Alpha.
YOUR SON & COLLEGE
Some of the questions, running through your son's mind, as they leave for college:
Will I fit in and make new friends? ; Will I succeed academically? ; Will I get lost in the crowds
and just become another number?
These concerns are very common. It is natural to want to belong and to be able
to quickly adapt to new surroundings. As a parent, you share some of
your son's concerns. You want him to succeed and have a positive experience. Pi Kappa Alpha at ULM offers
your son the opportunity to meet a variety of people who share his interests and values and who can help
him broaden his horizons.
The Pikes at ULM provide a "home away from home" and this creates a more intimate
environment on campus for your son. Through academic enrichment programs, educational seminars,
athletic events, community service, leadership development, and social functions, the Pikes at
ULM produce successful alumni and strong citizens for the future.
Too often fraternities are perceived to be social outlets that promote carefree
and irresponsible behaviors and attitudes. This image is extremely outdated and misleading. The Pikes
at ULM have adopted a more responsible approach to socializing and have created a safer and
more praiseworthy environment for their members.

to follow at ULM.
